Finnemore style bat box made by ebony woodwork

Coloured boxes like those above are painted with a non-toxic water resistant finish. As you can see above the finish is applied only to the outside of the box.

Here you can see the traditional design of bat box and also (above, centre and right) the new "Finnemore" style.
Bat boxes in these designs are available from Ebony Woodwork at Consett
priced at Ł7 each.

The boxes are made from rough sawn untreated softwood so that the bats can easily hold on to the surfaces. Entry is through a slot in the bottom of the box.

Ebony woodwork is a community based project promoting rights, choices, inclusion and independence for adults with learning disabilities.
